What do you like about the movie Hercules?

I like how the characters are so real and you could picture them as actual people on our earth. Megara and Hercules have flaws, and not minor ones, ones that really stick out and make them believable characters. Just in general, I don't there's a character that doesn't seem unrealistic (if that's even a word...) we can all relate to certain characters on some level or another. Even if we can't right now, we will eventually. In particular, Hercules' and Meg's flaws and personality traits make them endearing characters in my eyes and that makes me want to root for them when they're about to triumph, and feel sad and sympathetic when they don't triumph or something doesn't turn out correctly for them. I get really involved in the movie whenever I watch it.
Another thing I love is the comedy, there's never been a time when I haven't laughed extremely hard while watching that movie. Megara and Hades have the most witty lines and I find myself quoting them, or they get stuck in my head really easily.
I also like how this movie is much more modern, there's just something about it that's much more in touch with today's world than past Disney movies have been. When I watch it, I can't forget that it's one of the most contemporary Disney movies, maybe it's because some aspects of pop culture were integrated into the screenplay. For example when Hades says: "Let's get ready to rumble!" Or when one of the muses (I forgot which one) calls Hercules "Hunkules". Or "Zeusy, I'm home!!" I don't think you'd hear things like that in an older Disney movie.
The music in the movie is amazing!! Susan Egan (who I'm a REALLY big fan of!!) is INCREDIBLE when she sings "I Won't Say I'm Love". Susan NEVER fails to amaze me. Absolutely never. Also some of my favorites are: "Zero to Hero", "Go the Distance", and "A Star Is Born". They're all great songs and I love them dearly.
I also like how the movie takes place in ancient Greece. I've always been someone who loves all things foreign. I love to eat foreign food and am fascinated with foreign cultures and their history. Greece is no exception, and at a very young age Hercules opened up my eyes to the incredible country that is Greece and all of the wonders of that country. Greek mythology is also very interesting and I'd love to study it either now (when I can find the time) or when I'm older and in college.

I like how hilarious it is. It's kind of a break-off of the "traditional" Disney style of dramatic action/romance with some comedy thrown in. It's more on the comedic side, but it still has some of the other elements and it works. It's different, it was a brave thing to do and it payed off well, I think. Good character development, good animation style, the story is excellent... It's just all around good.

Well, go here: www.susanegan.net/fans/Email_Us.htmand there are directions that tell you how to get one. Be patient, though! It took about 3 months for me to get mine, but the point is I did get it! I asked Jay Leno for an autographed photo of him over a year ago and I still have not gotten anything back from him... I hope that helps!

Thank you very much! I'll do that on holiday break. And I'll try my best to be patient. But sometimes that's really hard for me. Impatience is my virtue!
Okay, now I feel guilty for getting off topic.
I like that Susan Egan does the voice of Meg for this movie. Susan Egan not only has a PHENOMENAL singing voice, but I like her voice when she talks. She is able to achieve a really dry, sarcastic, and bored tone; and then when something happens she can instantly sound like a sweetheart and her tone of voice will completely change to concerned, caring, and kind. I noticed this in Hercules the most, but I also noticed it while listening to my Beauty and the Beast: Original Broadway Cast Soundtrack.
I also like Danny DeVito's voice for Phil! Perfect-o! And Tate Donovan's voice is GREAT for the character of Hercules.

Awesome! I'm usually used to the off topic police, but I should've figured out by now that you and Natalie aren't like that! I'm making a Susan Egan thread. That way I can talk about her there, and maybe you'd like to join me?! EDIT: Crud! Jennifer logged off.

Oh...it's okay...Jennifer will be back!
Yeah, I'm not usually very strict with staying on Topic. As long as I can connect what you're talking about to the movie Hercules, it's all good.
When/if I make a Herc-Haven Forum, I will include an off Topic section for everyone to use whenever they want to go off topic. But yeah, don't ever stress staying on topic, it's oaky to wander sometimes.

Since I could write a book about all the things I like about this movie, i will keep it short. (I'm prone to ranting)
I love the characters, the setting, the music, the plot, the hilaroius lines, the villain, and just about every other aspect of the movie. What's not to love? Besides, it's just a feel-good movie. Watching it makes me smile.
This might be a tad off topic, but I just thought of this: Has anyone ever played the tape all the way to the end??? Like, the END end of the credits? Something funny happens that I love!
